Students Need Mental Health Support In Schools All Across America Now! Read This Article that I wrote to Find Out More On What You Can Do to Help:
Hello everyone! How are you all doing!? Today I want to talk simply about mental health support in schools.
Lost of us understand that a lot of schools in various school districts across America do not contain sufficient mental health resources for their students. It is understandable that there might be limiting factors preventing schools from providing thier students with effective mental health resources such as budget cuts, etc.
Although, with all the bullying that pertains in schools around America today, it is highly important that schools do contain sufficient mental health resources for students. Home/family issues, bullying, health, and more, are all factors that can lead to the depletion of one's mental health in school. Multiple students/families can not afford, or are embarrassed/ashamed of their illness(es) to receive counseling sessions, excessive medical appointments, medicine to treat mental health issues, or the other mental health resources necessary for optimum mental health.
Understanding all the factors that can lead to one's mental health depletion, such as bullying, tells that schools should be forced to have theses prominent resources available for students. There are too many cases of bullying, suicide from bullying, academic failure due to bullying/ health issues/ home issues, etc. This is why schools should be forced to provide resources such as counseling sessions, student faculty mediator groups, something to let the students that are struggling know that their voices will be heard, listened to, and that their situations will improve.
THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT! SCHOOLS SHOULD BE PROVIDED THE FUNDING TO BRING IN THESE RESOURCES! THROUGHOUT MY YEARS OF BEING BULLIED, MY SCHOOLS DID NOT HAVE SUFFICIENT RESOURCES FOR ME OR OTHERS DURING THE TIME WE NEEDED THEM MOST, AND THAT'S WHEN I CONSIDERED SUICIDE MULTIPLE TIMES. I FELT LIKE THERE WAS NO WAY OUT AT SCHOOL. THANKFULLY, MY MOM PROVIDED ME WITH COUNSELING SESSIONS AND PROPER MEDICINES TO ACCOMMODATE MY MENTAL HEALTH TREATMENT, BUT NOT EVERYONE CAN DO THAT. MY POINT IS, THERE ARE STUDENTS WHO ARE IGNORED EVERYDAY, AND HAVE NO WAY OUT OF THE PAIN, THE HURT, AND THE SUFFERING!! THEY GET TO THE POINT WHERE THEY CAN'T HANDLE IT ANYMORE, AND TAKE THEIR OWN LIVES! THERE WOULD BE MUCH LESS STUDENT SUICIDES FROM BULLYING AND MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES IF SCHOOLS OFFERED THESE RESOURCES!
Among high school students in the United States, females were more likely to report having considered, planned, and attempted suicide compared to males (considered suicide: 17.4% versus 10.5%, planned suicide: 13.2% versus 8.6%, and attempted suicide: 8.1% versus 4.6%, respectively) in 2009.

Suicide is the third leading cause of death among young people, resulting in about 4,400 deaths per year, according to the CDC.
For every suicide among young people, there are at least 100 suicide attempts. Over 14 percent of high school students have considered suicide, and almost 7 percent have attempted it.
Bully victims are between 2 to 9 times more likely to consider suicide than non-victims, according to studies by Yale University
A study in Britain found that at least half of suicides among young people are related to bullying
10 to 14 year old girls may be at even higher risk for suicide, according to the study above
According to statistics reported by ABC News, nearly 30 percent of students are either bullies or victims of bullying, and 160,000 kids stay home from school every day because of fear of bullying

These numbers are incredibly high! Way too high! 4,400 deaths per year of students from suicide! This is absolutely horrible! These numbers need to change (decrease) now! I want to stick up for all those students who are ignored, and provide them with the voice, resources, and happiness they deserve by fighting for and getting them more mental health resources in schools!
With all of your help, we can definitely make a change for these students! A lot of people care, just not enough, without ever realizing that these students mean it when they consider suicide. Why is it so hard to come across truth and justice when it comes to mental health and suicide issues? Society focuses more on celebrities and what they are doing, rather than standing up for our young and powerful generation of students that make up our country.
They need help, just like I did and still do. They need someone to stand by them no matter what they endure. I'm already standing by them, but are you? Please take a stand against bullying, suicide, and mental health issues by helping us get more mental health support in our schools. I'm not the only student voice asking you, I'm asking for millions of other student voices as well, and I will always ask until I can't ask anymore. A celebrity can change a crowd, and so can we. Change doesn't have to happen tomorrow, it can always happen today. TAKE A STAND! TOGETHER WE CAN CREATE CHANGE!
Below is the CDC website, and a video clip of United States President Barack Obama Speaking at the National Conference on Mental Health. Thank you president Obama for wanting to raise awareness on these issues! MENTAL HEALTH ILLNESSES ARE A BIG ISSUE IN AMERICA! If the president can do it, we all can too! Let's take a stand against bullying and mental health issues together!! Thank you all so much for reading this! Please help us make a change! PLEASE! I will post ways you can get involved with me on making this change for the better now and in the future!
